The Care Professional Register
The Care Professional Register (CPR)
An independent, voluntary, non-statutory register for care and support professionals in England — maintained by the National Association of Care & Support Workers (NACAS) as the register holder. It provides a trusted way for professionals to demonstrate their commitment to high standards of care.

Assurance & accountability
CPR registration includes commitment to our Code of Conduct and a fair Fitness to Practise (FtP) process. Outcomes can include advice, warnings, suspension, or removal from the CPR where the balance of probabilities indicates a serious breach of standards.
Note: The CPR is voluntary. Removal from the CPR does not itself create a legal bar on working in care, but it means the individual is no longer recognised by CPR as a registered care professional and employers may take it into account.

About the Professional Standards Authority (PSA)
The Professional Standards Authority (PSA) oversees the Accredited Registers programme, assessing voluntary registers against standards for public interest, governance, fairness and transparency.
The CPR has met the PSA’s Public Interest Standard (Standard 1) — demonstrating that establishing the register is in the public interest. (Meeting Standard 1 alone does not constitute full accreditation.)
Fitness to Practise (FtP)
We handle concerns fairly and proportionately to protect the public and maintain confidence in the profession. Possible outcomes include advice, warnings, conditions, suspension, or removal from the CPR on the balance of probabilities where standards are seriously impaired.
Scope (UK nations)
The CPR applies to England only.
In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, care workers are expected to register with their national care regulator.
